funkydoug
Hi, Does anyone know if a switch could be added to turn off the tweeter on these combos? Apologies if this is a brain-dead question! Not sure what if any complications there'd by if a simple breaker was wired? I'm interested in getting one but would prefer to have such an option. Thanks in advance Doug. funkydoug
No reply from Ashdown... I assume it would be an easy enough mod for a local amp tech ?? Ideally add a dial or a switch to make it adjustable, or even just an on off switch. Anyone??
paul_5
it's just a switch job - nut make sure that the switch is rated to carry the amount of juice that you'll be putting through it. Impedance wise it's a moot point, as the crossover inside the cab will effectively eliminate any change in the load that the amp sees.
paul_5
The simplest way to do it is a DPDT (double pole, double throw) switch. It has 6 lugs: 1 | 4 2 | 5 3 | 6 2 and 5 are connected to the toggle lever, so when lug 1 connects to lug 2, lug 4 connects to 5 - this leaves lugs 3 and 6 unconnected. Same thing in reverse when you flick the switch - pin 2 connects to pin 3, and 5 connects to 6. Snip the wire from the crossover to the speaker in two - you now have 4 loose ends... Connect the 'Live' wire from the crossover to 2, and the 'Ground' to pin 5, then connect the 'Live' speaker cable to 3, and the speaker 'Ground' to 6.
