Plenty of stuff kicking around in the 1970's when i was a teenager. I remember thinking these were dreadful even back then -

Some girls will, some girls won't
Some girls need a lot of lovin' and some girls don't
Well, I know I've got the fever but I don't know why
Some say they will and some girls lie.

I don't have a problem with that one, it's fairly accurate, to me anyway.

now Springsteen's I'm on Fire is another story and a few of Stings Lyrics are dodgy as well, Don't Stand So Close to Me? but then again Rock 'n Roll was founded on well sexist lyrics from blues songs, the original lyrics to Hound Dog are, err, interesting

Mungo Jerry's In the Summertime should be obsolete by now - 'if her daddy's rich, take her out for a meal. If her daddy's poor then do what you feel. Plus of course - 'have a drink, have a drive'.

Even worse, this one -

Can't believe anyone ever thought these lyrics were okay, even in 1974/75.

Girls I like them fat, I like them tall
Some skinny, some small
I got to get to know them all
Girls love the things they know
Love the things they show
Have to be where they go
Pretty girls the sunshine in the air
The perfume that they wear
Girls are everywhere
I like to be on an island
With five or six of them fine ones
With one to be in good looking
And one to do best cooking
Give me one with a lot of money
Give me two with a lots of honey
Give me three to do freaky things
Give me four or five more that like to swing

Must admit I wasn’t keen on the “Boys” version!

In my defence....”It’s got a good beat!”

No need to excuse oneself these days, anything goes 😁

except didn't he sing "Excuse me while I kiss the sky", as far as I know Hendrix was nowhere near bisexual

Yes, it was a joke 😉

Supertramp, 'Breakfast In America'... "Take a jumbo 'cross the water, like to see America". Hardly any 747s left now, certainly not on transatlantic routes.

“We don’t need no education,”

It would seem that, currently, parents and children would rather they did have the proscribed method.

Two that jump out for me are Christine Sixteen by Kiss and White Riot by The Clash.

Didn't Donald Trump just incite a white riot in Washington DC?

Were he still alive, I don't think Joe Strummer would be rushing to support that one!

XTC - Making plans for Nigel.

Apart from no-one born in the last 20 years being called Nigel, 'he has his future in British Steel'.

"He has his future in Tata" doesn't scan quite as well.

Or Liberty....

I worked for Corus/Tata and one of my colleagues was a Nigel, unfortunately he didn't know the song so my witless crooning of the lyrics was wasted.

I was chatting to a guy (Zoom) recently he asked where I gigged (before THE EVENT) I said a lot of my work was in Swindon. Oh yeah? Are there any bands from Swindon? Ignoring the idiocy of the remark, I said, well there's XTC for one.

He thought that was hilarious, as he'd never heard of them. This is a fully grown British adult. I left the meeting.
