hooky_lowdown
I dug my little epiphone eb0 out the other day, forgot how nice the neck is to play on it. The mudbucker pickup is notoriously low output on the epi, so thought I'd wire the pickup to the jack to increase output (a little) and add some high end. I've read wiring the pickup to jack makes the high end rather harsh. So I thought if I added a capacitor or resistor to the 'ground' wire between pickup and jack would that (A) work? and (B) make any actual difference to tame the harsh high end? Aidan63
when I was experimenting with different P pickups in order to decide which one to use in mine I wired the output jack to a terminal block and tried them all direct, they didn't sound overly harsh; it meant I could swap them over fairly quickly without having to strip the instrument each time as I had the terminal block on top of the pickguard through the normal tone control hole and I could thread the pickup wires through the volume hole and connect and I didn't seem to suffer much rf noise as a result
Killed_by_Death
Try it first, my Rickenbacker 4004 never sounded better than when I wired the pickups straight to the jack.

The circuit for a fully-open tone control would be a resistor and capacitor in parallel to the pickup.
Killed_by_Death
TBH you don't even need the Capacitor. Experimenting has been done that shows JUST a Resistor sounds the same as when the pot is fully clockwise with a Cap installed.
Woodinblack
Just wire it direct and change whatever you want to change on the amp, turn the tone down there..You cant get back what you have taken it out, but you can later take out what you don't want. Andyjr1515
A few of the ones I've fixed up for @wwcringe have been wired up direct to the jack - no capacitors or resistors, just hard wired. They have all sounded superb...
