fretmeister Posted February 25, 2021 Posted February 25, 2021 I have a set of EMG PJ-X pickups that I'm going to put in my 4 string Ibanez Mezzo. I'm also going to put in an EMG 2 band stacked Treble and Bass preamp. The pickups come with twin volume controls (and a Tone that won't be used) and I have never liked twin volumes. But in my box of things I have an EMG 3 way switch and an EMG ABCX active balance control. Most of my 2 pickup basses have a balance control and I'm familiar with it, but at the same time I can't help but think a 3 way might be easier. I don't think I've ever "balanced" the pickups - just all neck, all bridge or right in the middle. What do you reckon? Stick with a balance? Or have the 3 way? Quote
BassBunny Posted February 25, 2021 Posted February 25, 2021 I'd go balance. You can still do the all neck/all bridge/both together and anything in between. Quote
itu Posted February 25, 2021 Posted February 25, 2021 3 way takes some time to adjust (pickup heights), but then it is quick to use. Balance pots can be found from Bourns. Models: 250k and 500k MN. Quote
