What is the Mount Rushmore of envelope filter pedals, synonymous with the bass?

These do not have to be the all time top units, but something else to consider:

Mad Professor - Snow white Autowah

Onkart Gromt - Funky Fellow

Subdecay - Prometheus DLX

Emma Electronic - DiscumBOBulator

Iron Ether - Xerograph (Deluxe)

Some more:

DOD FX25B, purely because of the Flea master session video.

That was an FX25 - great pedal! I tend to prefer a band pass filter for their squelchy response when driven hard.

I bought one for next to nowt on ebay in the early 2000s, be lucky to get one for less than a hundred quid now. Great pedal.

I've asked this question here, Talkbass and reddit, and you're the first guys to mention it. THAT has surprised me.

Mutron III is legendary so should be on the list.

The Source Audio Spectrum tries to copy it, so it would be good to see more examples of how close it can get.

The Fwonkbeta is the best envelope filter in the universe*, so should also make the cut.

* IMHO

It's an excellent filter no question. Do you prefer it to the 3 Leaf kit? I'd take both my GR2 and Proton Mk4 over the Fwonkbeta, as very good as that is.

Purely from a legendary status POV:
Musitronics Mutron III
Moog MF-101 LPF
Lovetone Meatball
DOD FX25

My personal list (only ones that I've used):
Musitronics Mutron III
Subdecay Prometheus (original or DLX -  I have the original and love it, though the DLX has many more functions and features)
Maxon AF-9
Broughton Josh Wah

Of course, it is the best envelope filter in the universe after all!

I haven’t tried the Chromatron or the very latest Proton though...

They are lightweights. We are hardcore. Simple.

Lovetone Meatball

I had a meatball. I managed to set it to make an incredible sound. By mistake. And could never find that sound again. Nevermind I sold it for 3 x what I paid.
