JJTee Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 Inspired by one of my favourite Python sketches, I was thinking about what a bass players football team might look like. What formation? Who’s goalkeeper? Who’d be centre back? Someone solid and reliable like Cliff Williams. A holding midfielder of James Jamerson, paired with Bernard Edwards? Maverick Pino Palladino in the cultured midfield maestro role. Flea on one wing, box to box? But who’s going to stick it in the onion bag? Quote

Nail Soup Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 In football the stereotype goalie is like the stereotype drummer - the 'loony' of the group. Any bass players who fit that bill? Quote

police squad Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 Centre forward must be John Entwhistle 1 Quote
Maude Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 Peter Steele from Type-O-Negative at over 2m tall needs to be in goal. 2 Quote
Old Man Riva Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 Tim Lefebvre as a centre forward. Has the physical presence, and can play in a variety of ways to suit the occasion. Has the deftness of touch, and also possesses the maverick creativity (as shown with his use of pedals etc.) to add an extra creative element, when required. He’s a big name player who could deliver on the biggest of stages, and also “a rainy November evening in Stoke”. 1 Quote
Nicko Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 I think we'll have Peter Crouch up front. He claims to have no musical talent but that never stopped me calling myself a bass player. Crouch the Bassist? Quote

Macca?... bit of a 'Goal Hanger' and always on about how good Liverpool was! Lemmy could help out with any half time refreshments needs to pep up the team for the second half...
