Barking Spiders Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 Flipping through an RIAA list of biggest selling acts in the USA I came across a music group called Mannheim Steamroller. Knowing there are many big selling hard rock bands in the US that mean little in the UK, I YT'd them to check them out. Now, from their name I expected crunching guitars and plenty of widdling but instead I found this So, anyone else checking out an unfamiliar name expecting one thing but got summat else entirely Quote

Lozz196 Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 I remember reading in Glen Matlocks book that he and a mate went to see Teenage Rebellion thinking what a great name and how this must be a band worth seeing. The band were made up of 40+ year olds. When they asked about the name the reply was that they were rebelling against teenagers. 3 6 Quote
thodrik Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 Savage Garden being a pop band but Soundgarden being a much more aggressive alt-rock band always amused me. Queens of the Stone Age feature no female royalty or any cavemen. The Distillers never showed any inclination to making alcoholic drinks either. 1 Quote

Len_derby Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 A friend persuaded me to go with her to see Papa Roach. I was expecting a benign old guy who’d offer me a smoke. Nah, second-rate rock and third-rate rapping. 1 Quote
