For myself, I've always hated that bassline. I simply can't think of a LESS funky bassline than that, so I've always played it more-or-less Bootsy style instead, and with about two thirds of the notes removed!

I've never played that line in unison - that's the guitard's bit...I'm off doing my bit!!!
