Kiwi
I'd love to know what they've done to the p-bass in this mix but it's lovely. Fat, compressed and snarly.
Lozz196
They’ve made it sound just like the recording, which live is never all that easy. I only listened on my phone but the bass had a good presence in all the songs.

I'd bet it's a clean DI feed off the mic splitter to the video/broadcast truck, the rest will be down to the record mixdown eq and processing. It's 2004, so early days of live digital which suggests to me that it's not too processed beyond eq and compression.
dmccombe7
Bass is really driving those songs. Love that tone he has. Pure live energy. Noted Steve Howe doing a bit of slide in there too. Is the bass player the original guy from Frankie. ? Dave

I was really taken aback when I found out it was programmed and not an actual bass, it sounded so much like a ‘live’ performance. Another big fan of Dua Lipa's basslines! And they don't do it too shabbily "live" on bass either...

They got back together for this appearance after a Bands Reunited episode.
BadHands
Bruno Mars seems to understand the role the bass can play!

Rest of the band are not bad either! These really are quite good. There's a good YouTube clip of a performance on an American Radio station Thanks for tip @Nail Soup I think I'll go and see them when gigs happen again Edited March 19, 2021 by BillyBass

ezbass
It’s interesting, listening to all the clips shared here, that the majority seem to be P basses and often played with a pick. It certainly is a recorded tone that stands out.

It is! I also spotted it last week while reviewing the video. Very unusual to see one played live!!
