kristo
I've got a couple of Mudbucker pickups (one from a 90s Epiphone Rivoli, and one from a 2019 Epiphone EBO rewound with Alnico magnets) and I've just noticed the magnets are facing different directions on them. On the Rivoli one the ceramic magnets are in opposite directions, and on the other one the alnico 5 magnets are facing the same direction. Does anyone know the correct way the magnets should be fitted? Does it even matter? Thanks. Edited March 9, 2021 by kristo
goingdownslow
I checked mine some while back (original Gibson) and they both face the same way on to the central yolk. I assume this is to induce the same magnetic polarity in the central pole pieces. Edited March 9, 2021 by goingdownslow spelling
kristo
That makes sense. So the poles should face each other as so:
