GreeneKing
I was hoping for some sun this morning to take some decent photos but if there's sun out there it's wet! I've had the BB for a while and its not for sale. Mucho Mojo It's been fitted with a Fender 3 band EQ pre powered by 18v. It's string spacing is what you'd expect from a 4 string bass with an extra string squeezed in. This is the original 5 string Yamaha and is well over 20 years old. So there she is. silverfoxnik
Hi Peter Good to see you back on the Forum; haven't seen you around for a while...Hope you're well? Lovely looking bass and in great condition. What's it like to play with that pretty tight string spacing? Nik

stingrayfan
Does it sound as good as it looks?
GreeneKing
It sounds really good, very versatile. How much of that is down to the 3 band fender 18v EQ I can't say. The B string is the best I've ever played and it's a 34" scale which blows all the arguments for a 35"+ away. Finger noise is pretty big too but that'll be down to the strings. Maybe some nickels are needed? Certain notes really make the body resonate which feels good. The string spacing is fine if it's the only bass you play and I kinda pick it up pretty quick. lukeward2004
Lovely bass there Peter - looks like a real stunner! I must say, Yamaha basses are fantastic - really underrated in my opinion, i used to own a pair of 5 string BBG5A's that just sang out and where fantastic basses for the money I paid for them. I was close to buying a BB similar to yours not long ago, but to be honest it wouldnt get the playtime it deserves, so I turned it down - its posts like these that make me wish i had parted with my cash for one! martfitz
Lovely looking bass, I do like Yamahas, I have an old TRB4 Mk1 which I bought new in the early 90's, I actually play it more than my Stingray, Status and Custom, they have such a nice clean sound.
