whynot Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Had a garage clearout the other day and came accross my old Atari 1040 ST (midi in/outs), with monitor. Last time I used this was about 10 years ago but the lights still come on. Will throw in my 64 channel Hybrid Arts sequencer software as well. All for £25.00 cash on collection. If anyone is interested please don't ask me to demo it as I can't remember a thing, but I know there are still Atari users out there so there may be some interest.
Guest subaudio Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Wow, a blast from the past, I always remeber these very fondly when Cubase VST does something daft (with alarming reglarity) on my PC, Cubase sequencing on me old Atari was always totally rock solid. Have a free bump
lemmywinks Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Definitely a golden oldie! I remember having these at school in the music room. Sadly my Amiga 1200 no longer works, so i won't be firing OctaMED up anytime soon. If you can't fit a track on a 3.5" floppy you're overplaying!
dannybuoy Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Try the Science Museum, they might be interested!
crez5150 Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 I have two of these and the upgraded Atari Falcon...... it's got 8Mb RAM....... SCHWEEET!
G-77 Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 yep i was a atari ST user as well, i went through about 4 or 5 of them, I had cubase , and managed to get it upgraded to the mac ver a few years back, !
Jean-Luc Pickguard Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 I still have mine in the loft (upgraded to a massive 4mb ram). I was using the original version of Cubase on it from 1989 after starting with pro-24. Great machine. I recall spending many happy hours playing the Secret of Monkey Island I & II on it as well.
steve-soar Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Good grief, I got one back in 1988 with Pro 24, with a Kawai K1, into a Roland U110, Alesis HR16, Peavey Multi FX all recording onto a Fostex 4 track, then bounce down to get 10 tracks of hiss. £25 is great.
spinynorman Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 I have an upgraded 520ST in the loft, which my wife insists will become collectable. In about 200 years, I should think. I used to write for Atari User magazine, and my one claim to Atari posterity is an article I wrote for Atari World which is still on the web, translated into Finnish. YouMa Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 (edited) My best friend made a lot of money with an atari st and and i still have the mental scars to prove it,octo med was great software, the reason i bought an amiga. Edited March 25, 2009 by YouMa
Eight Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Was always an Amiga man myself. Still have my A1200 (which now has a significantly dusty/yellow appearance).
whynot Posted March 25, 2009 Author Posted March 25, 2009 Hybrid Arts was great with this. So easy to use. I recorded most of the backing tracks on this system for the band I was with at the time plus was my main writing tool.
