How to fix this dent/crack in the finish?

My double bass just fell... I feel like a fool, but a lucky one in that it has only done a bit of cosmetic damage, so I've learnt a lesson about paying more attention to where and how I leave it leaning...

The two smaller scratches seem like they're an easier fix, but that pierced dent looks like a bit more to fix... Not expecting the thing to look like it never happened, I'm ok with battle scars, but is there a way to make it look a bit better?

Don't mind giving some DIY a go with the right suggestions for how...

Am in North Wales if making suggestions for places to take it.

It's a carved Thomann btw.

Have a google... 'Acoustic Guitar, soldering iron, steaming, dent'

If the wood fibers are compressed, you can steam em out - damp rag, and soldering iron or iron

I had a dent in the fretboard, steamed it out a bit, not a fix but an improvement...

Small area so i used a wet cotton bud on the dent, then applied the soldering iron tip to it...

Keep wetting... keep steaming... keep looking

I had a similar issue with a dent on an acoustic guitar. A steam iron and damp cloth worked wonders (though not 100% - there was an "impact crater" left over).

Is it a serious dent? If not too bad you could simply match the colour with a furniture repair stick - a waxy crayony thing. That would reduce the obvious ding. You’ll be bound to find a few knocks here and there in a bass’s life.

Generally rub walnut oil into the damage and call it "character".

I did this on an oak cabinet and the repair is imperceptible. Truly great stuff!
