Blithering
Hi, Does anyone have recommendations for looper pedals that work well with bass? Would a looper designed for guitar be any good or are there any companies out there that make bass specific loop devices. I’ve tried Google but, for me, Google has not been my friend with this. Any advice or suggestions greatly appreciated. cheers
NoirBass
Do you mean a loop for you signal chain to blend the signal or a looper pedal like a boss RC-1/ TC ditto etc.?
skidder652003
I have a Digitec JamMan Stereo. I don't use it for bass now (use it to trigger additional sounds/instruments - Think siren off War Pigs) but as I recall it looped bass fine with no discernible loss of low end. I also had a Nux loop core and that was good value for money.

thack
Either way. No there aren't any bass specific loopers I've ever come across. Most loopers (recording loopers or signal loops) are signal transparent an can be used with any instrument. Bit of advice if doing loop recording, cut the bass eq a bit on input. It can otherwise get very muddy after just 2 layers of loop. Treble and mids sit in the mix much better.
NickA
I've been using the loop function on a TC flashback delay...like the people say, it just plays back whatever you play in.... in 24 bit hifi. Going to get a proper TC looper soon (ditto+ probably).
thodrik
I have the Ditto X2. It is fine and is fairly transparent. The new plus version is really good. The X2 though takes up quite a lot of pedal board real estate, but to me it is worth it for a designated 'start' and 'stop' buttons! I did a loop on a recent album where I had a bass tuned to drop C and there was no issues in terms of transparency or loss of bass signal when I was recording and the signal chain for that was just bass - Flashback X4 - Ditto - interface. Sounded great, apart from the actual playing.
