Jono Bolton
Does anyone have any first-hand experience of fitting one of these to a MIM Standard P Bass? I have the scratchplate, and had been looking at a MIM P Bass body I'd seen for sale, but my concern is the position of the screw hole between the volume and tone knobs; on my Squier Matt Freeman, the screw hole sat over the control cavity, and a plug had to be fitted to allow a screw hole to be drilled. Can I expect the same with a MIM body? The routing on a Classic 50s/Vintera P Bass is different to the Standards/Player Precisions. AndyTravis
Yeah. Get a drumstick. Saw it to the depth of the cavity. Then split it (saw it) down the middle. A bit of wood glue where there’s no place for the screw to go. Clamp it. Put a cloth between the finished portion of the body and the clamp. Guide hole it...screw in. You could use double sided tape I guess. Robert is your mother’s brother... Edited April 14, 2021 by AndyTravis
AndyTravis
Totally misread the post. Yeah, only the 50’s reissues have the “right” spacing for the gold pickguard.
Reggaebass
If I’m reading this right, couldn’t you just glue a small block of wood to the side of the cavity to take the screw
Reggaebass
I didn’t know the gold anodised ones had different screw holes, this is my one

It’s a nice one to play, and it very rarely goes out of tune, the neck profile is different from my jazzes even though it’s jazz nut width, it’s very slim back to front , and it’s aging nicely Edited April 14, 2021 by Reggaebass
