Sardonicus
I was removing the nut on my cheap P-Bass copy (thankfully) and despite taking my time and working slowly and carefully, I managed to take a chunk out of the neck, right on the edge of the nut slot. Is there an easy remedy or shall I just leave it as it is?
Grangur
Mix Superglue and fine saw dust from a dark coloured wood. If you want some suitable, and not in a tearing rush let me know. 2
Dan Dare
Did the chunk come out in one piece? If so, if you line it up right and get the grain to re-engage, you should be able to glue and clamp it back. May need smoothing over when set. Sardonicus
@Dan Dare Unfortunately it broke away into bits. I’m not too fussed as it’s a cheap P-Bass copy that I hardly played. I’m conscious not to pay too much to rectify it as overall it’s not worth it.
Dan Dare
You could file the hole to be triangular and straight edged and glue on a little piece of scrap ebony. When it's set, file/sand to shape. Would be a bit of a faff, but cheap.

You might want to build it up in a few layers because it will go very hard and you'll save yourself some sanding....
Sardonicus
UPDATE - The P-Bass has all black hardware and I've decided to strip the bass as I have plans for the parts. I'm going to stealth up my `Stingray' copy with the black hardware....that'll be another post appearing soon.

The other thing worth mentioning, is to wear a face-mask if sanding wood to create the dust. The dust will be seriously fine and mess with your lungs and that stuff never comes out of your lungs. I use one of these. It's money very well spent. GVS Elipse Half Mask Respirator P3 | Reusable Half Masks | Screwfix.com

Sardonicus
@Grangur The bass was £100 brand new and I've made numerous changes to it over the years, I'm not going to spend too much time nor money on it as it's really not worth it. The bass is worth more as parts that I can use rather than keeping it as it is.
