Shonks
Guy says it's an American Standard Jazz but a few things don't seem right. I sent two messages and he replied almost instantly. Thing is, the replies left it even more confusing and I trust this even less, although the machine heads are right, the serial looks misplaced. There's so many things wrong about it, and things right about it hence the title of this post. If the seller is a member of this community I invite him to comment....thanks. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/164836123964?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20180105095853%26meid%3D06ae88428e004a38a0db27b367c5f02e%26pid%3D100903%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D20%26mehot%3Dnone%26sd%3D164836123964%26itm%3D164836123964%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2510209%26brand%3DFender&_trksid=p2510209.c100903.m5276 Here's my messages and replies, start from the bottom (ooh er misses) Hi there no it came straight out the factory like that and ive never modded it , its got the fender noisless N3 pickups in there. Cheers Reply Your previous message Ok thanks, What’s the active eq thats in there then ? Is the passive originals still available with the instrument? (sorry to be a pest but very interested in your bass) 4stringhero2012: Hi this is the American standard Jazz bass with custom active electronics and its not a Deluxe model thx Your previous message Hi, Unfamiliar with this model, can you give more info on it? The ‘AmericanDeluxe’ has 21 frets and string thru option which this doesn’t and is why I’m asking. Thanks Steve Edited April 27, 2021 by Shonks
Reggaebass
It’s the second time it’s been listed I think, I enquired the first time and it sold for £910 with 4 bids , I got the same reply as you
Shonks
yeah...seems dodgy enough to avoid I think.
Reggaebass
Yeah, I wasn’t convinced enough to buy it, I didn’t think they did a us standard that was active, except the deluxe
Shonks
standard with Noisless p'ups too...odd! but all the hardware bits are marked fender and seem genuine...
Max Normal
Looks identical to a Mex Deluxe Active Jazz to me, apart from the spaghetti logo and US serial. Could just be a decal job, or maybe a neck swap. Edited April 27, 2021 by Max Normal
Lozz196
US serial number but no thru body stringing, Fender hi-mass bridge but not the one that comes on US models, passive/active switch in a different place to where they are usually. I’d say genuine neck/tuners, rest put together.
Reggaebass
It’s a curious one, unless I missed a special model , I don’t think they did this spec on a 2019 us jazz , I’ve found the reply I got when I asked the model details, Hi there its similar to the deluxe in that its Active EQ but its a standard Jazz Bass with Rosewood neck Cheers

prowla
I sometimes wonder if there are more fake Fenders than real ones.
AndyTravis
It’s an American neck and tuners on a Mexican deluxe body as far as I can see - like @Max Normal has already said
Phil_T
on the ebay page for that bass there a link to another similar one but with 5 strings and a Mexican serial https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254946037074?_trkparms=aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20201210111314%26meid%3D5ec334c7f1374438b581c0dba317da60%26pid%3D101195%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D12%26mehot%3Dpf%26sd%3D164836123964%26itm%3D254946037074%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DSimplAMLv9PairwiseUnbiasedWeb%26brand%3DFender&_trksid=p2047675.c101195.m1851

gjones
My guess would be a Mex deluxe body and a US neck. A US body would be string through.

Neck looks kosher and has, according to online Fender serial number checkers, a Corona S/N (although it isn't possible to find whether the number relates to a complete instrument or just a neck). Body, however, appears identical to this Mex Active Jazz - Fender Deluxe Active Jazz Bass, Maple Fingerboard, 3 Colour - Andertons Music Co.. Reggaebass
It’s been re listed at £400 , I think lots of people are wise to this

I wouldn’t stop playing them for that reason, my instruments of choice are jazzes and precision’s, but I do look closer now if I’m buying one, than I used to 🙂

blisters on my fingers
There are five days left on this so called auction which started at £400. Here it is again... eBay item number:164836123964 Can't wait to see at what figure the bidder below * drops out and the other magic shill boy does likewise. At which point some lucky eBayer will stand a very good chance of winning a totally unique bitsa. * private listing - bidder identity protected £820.00 28 Apr 2021 at 11:30:09am BST After all - using a private listing is a completely acceptable way of setting a minimum price and it's so much fun. Why would you not involve your friends? Or maybe both boys(completely unknown to each other - of course) have been just a tadge greedy and it will end up for auction yet again. Anybody asked how much it weighs ? Or if it stinks? Edited April 28, 2021 by blisters on my fingers pathetic attempt at humour
