Lozz196 Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 I’d look at a used Fender US Standard (2008 onwards) or US Professional. 5 Quote
bigthumb Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 If its a passive bass you want I got a brand new USA G&L Jazz Bass for just under a grand. Every bit as good as a Fender. 2 Quote
Reggaebass Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 I’ve got a 2014 US jazz , and it’s by far one of the best I’ve had, and I’ve had a lot, well within your budget 1 Quote

Lfalex v1.1 Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 Definitely go used. £1k goes a long way. If it has to look Fender-ish; G&L, Sandberg, Lakland, Sire and (naturally) Fender all qualify. If you only need the J/J configuration, Warwick, Ibanez and others enter the fray 1 Quote
Reggaebass Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 My Sandberg TT is jazz style, not sure if you’ve looked at any of those 🙂 Quote

Doctor J Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 There's an old Levinson Blade for sale in the ad section here. A wonderful, very high quality Jazz bass for well under a grand. 3 Quote

OliverBlackman Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 At that price point there are lots of options as you will found out from the recommended. What do you like from a bass? If you don’t know, buy second hand and try loads to find out. Sadowsky is not a bad place to start. Quote

E sharp Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 I sold a spotless Status Jazz bass a couple of years ago for around £900. The best jazz bass I’d ever played, and the front pick up was a beast. Was my last stab at a jazz- hoping it’d change my mind on jazz basses. Just don’t do it for me unfortunately. They are stunning basses Quote

I think the original asking price was £1200 but they'd probably accept less than that. One thing that was a bit of a let down was the pretty cheap gig bag it came with. For a bass of that cost you'd expect a bit better than that but at the end of the day its the bass that counts and it really is a lovely bass. Quote
Bunion Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 There’s a nice Moon for sale on here for less than £900 too I tried one awhile ago and it sounded sweet. 1 Quote
ead Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 My favourites of the ones I've played are the Sandberg California II TT and the Japanese Geddy Lee J basses. My top J bass is my "bitsa" ACG that will likely be buried with me: 2 Quote
