SteveXFR
Apart from throwing at the cat or using as a door stop what can I do with a dead effect pedal to make it a useful object?

Get a kit for another effect and pop it into the case..? If you're not into Building, offer it up in the 'Recycling' section..?
Chris2112
I was going to say use it as a door stop but you've covered it. It would make for a novel paperweight.
Lozz196
Give it to your guitarist telling him it will make him sound better......, 1
Crawford13
I'm with @Dad3353 on this one, buy a kit and have some fun experimenting. Then do what @Lozz196says, hopefully it's a dead fuzz pedal and you turn it into a phaser or something and give them a fright. SteveXFR
It's a dead boost/eq pedal (Orange Two Stroke) Maybe I could fit a 3 band parametric eq kit
Nail Soup
I think Johnny Ramone used to use a pedal with no battery as a way to isolate his guitar. Obviously he would not use an effect pedal for any other reason.

When the pedal is “on” it doesn’t send anything to the amp because of no battery.
Nail Soup
You may have seen these: I guess you could fix it to the wall make some kind of key holder.... or just somewhere to hang two jack leads! Note/disclaimer: It's not a good security option to hang keys out on display like that.
binky_bass
Throw it at a cat? Oh wait, you've said that. Door stop? No... you've said that too... Err... throw it at two cats?
