Lfalex v1.1 Posted May 7, 2021 Posted May 7, 2021 Potentially quite a nice spec. Not keen on the ashtray myself, but the matching headstock and ebony fretboard are nice touches. Think I'd put black control knobs on it. Quote

ead Posted May 7, 2021 Posted May 7, 2021 I was looking at it recently then got distracted by the Leo Lyons Woodstock bass but actually cheaper to buy a Limelight I suspect. Quote
Kevsy71 Posted May 7, 2021 Posted May 7, 2021 Can highly recommend the Bruce Thomas Profile: excellent neck and a powerful pickup, one of the best "Precision with rounds" I've played. @stewblack is a fan too! 1 Quote
stewblack Posted May 8, 2021 Posted May 8, 2021 I was amazed when I saw a Bruce Thomas Profile for sale 'upgraded' recently. Simply because I can't think of a single way to to improve the stock model. I do appreciate personal taste comes into the equation, of course. However for sheer sound quality, playability, balance, weight and reliability I've never owned nor played better in 40+ years as a bassist. 3 Quote
Mickeyboro Posted May 8, 2021 Posted May 8, 2021 Curiously Stew I have just bought a Classic Vibe Squier that feels identical! The quality of instruments these days... 1 Quote
Guest Posted May 8, 2021 Posted May 8, 2021 The list prices for these basses are a bit hard to understand: most the Powers (40mm nut p bass) are £400, but a couple are £500 the Jives (38mm j bass) are 50/50, seemingly at random - eg the solar flare standard is £500, but the solar flare lefty is only £400 the Detroits (43mm nut) are all £500. the signatures are mostly £500, but a couple are £600 Quote

I also have a Fender high mass bridge to fit to it too... still not gotten around to that... but will repost some photos when I do. 1 Quote

la bam Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 I have 2 bass collections: 1. John Entwistle - superbly built. Everything is flawless. The sound is superb. Very punchy and aggressive. 2. Standard power bass. Again, very well built, but not as substantial feeling as the john entwistle. Slimmer neck and feels lighter, and the pick ups sound thinner, but there is more range on them - ie using the tone control actually works and gives you full sweep of usuable tones. Both great basses, but the entwistle is the better one in my opinion. 2 Quote

Graham Posted May 11, 2021 Posted May 11, 2021 (edited) Bass Centre basses lool like great value instruments, but I'd never buy one with that deeply unattractive and cheap looking Bass Centre logo on the heqdstock. At least they've sorted that out with this and the Guy Pratt model Edited May 11, 2021 by Graham Quote
