Overdrive, Distortion, and Fuzz

Overdrive is less gain than distortion. Where the dividing line is, is undefined though.

Fuzz is a distinct type of high gain/distortion, I think its something to do with the electronic components involved in producing it and the resulting sound wave.

Isn't fuzz a square wave where overdrive/distortion is a clipped sine wave?

Fuzz is overdrive on steroids - so overdriven that it compresses the top (peaks) off the wave and turns a sine wave into something similar to a square wave.

And bass fuzz is awesome.

I've just watched the pedal show video - I'm now fully enlightened and not at all confused.

Funny how the only mention of bass was that "Don't Worry" by Marty Robbins was the first record to feature distortion in 1961 which featured a bass going through a knackered mixer channel.
