Red and gold is a great combination too. My old Yam RBX was red with gold and it looked fine.

I love that Sequoiah Gold Ray! One of the prettiest finishes they've ever done. 

So far the metallic purple has my vote, followed by bright, shiny white.

I suppose I have a bit of bias, but gold hardware on red does it for me.  I wouldn't have bought a Spector with gold hardware if it had been any other colour.

I had this black and gold Limited Edition Stingray at one point. It was a lovely bass and a good gold combination IMHO, but it was like having a boat anchor hanging around your shoulders 😬.

I'm bound to agree! I usually don't like gold hardware, but my 2001 Warwick Streamer LX is a nice exception.

I had a gold bass made a few years back by Warmoth. Gold flake with gold hardware and frets. I may even have had Optima Gold strings on it at one point.

Having said that I also have a hankering for a purple bass so it's the colour that I'd go for now

Purple! That's what I was aiming for with the fretless I put together. Gold the gold sorted but have never got it painted. I really wanted a glittery/flake finish.
