Lo Ki
Scenario- You're fortunate enough to play a 5-8,000 seat indoor arena. What rig setup do you bring? Edited May 20, 2021 by Lo Ki Add to title
Supernaut
A DI box and IEMs.
fretmeister
Assuming that already has a great monitoring system... just a Helix. (And I'd remember to get my jeans over the top of my cowboy boots). Edited May 20, 2021 by fretmeister
TheGreek
If I had to supply the rig I'd be OK....I have a Trace Elliot AH500. I'd probably need to turn it down a bit though... 2
Lo Ki
Yeah, 8,000 seat venues better have a good foh system!😉
Lozz196
I’d be looking at borrowing a couple of Ashdown ABM410 cabs to go with my ABM600 head.
WAYNESWORLD
Extra pants, tennalady, Imodium and some weights gaffa’d to my cheeks to stop the permanent smile peeing off the audience
uk_lefty
A bass, a tuner, all my "cheat notes" so I can remember how certain bits of songs go.
Graham56
A couple of AC30s. Well, if it was good enough for the Beatles... 😁
Dad3353
The 'same as it ever was' rig. The sound engineer will fit it to the FOH rig. Been there, done that; no problems. Oops, sorry; wrong photo ...
Beer of the Bass
I don't own a suitable rig for that size of stage, but I'm guessing there'll be hire companies involved in a setup like that, so I'd probably just request an SVT and 8x10", since Ampeg stuff is reasonably familiar and ubiquitous enough that it's probably available. wateroftyne
The same as I used for 6000-seater arena 😄

I'd use (and have used) my regular gear for personal monitoring in large venues and the foldback/IEMs can take care of it for everyone else. Oops, sorry; wrong photo ... I'd have loved to have heard that, never mind playing through it - you probably know that Phil Lesh's bass had individual pickups for each string, and each went through a dedicated amplifier and stack of cabs in the wall of sound. Fabulous - insanely expensive but simply fabulous. 2

Yep, with feedback cancelling microphone pairs. That's what happens when you ask Owsley to design the ultimate sound system, money no object! Bluewine
Yeah, big stage/ venue gigs are more about the PA than your rig. As long as your using any type of pro level rig your ok. I play big gigs with 2 10 GK cab and a GK head Blue
gafbass02
My big gig days were spent with a trace stack, running much quieter than it did at pub gigs. Nowadays I’d just use the monitors.
FinnDave
I played headline slot at a small festival in 2019 and due to a breakdown en route (car, not psychological) had to play through a small combo. It worked fine, as would have my DI box. I have since downsized to a single 1x12 and a couple of different amp heads, much less to store, insure & carry about. The smaller option is enough for pub gigs, etc., and anything larger than that goes through the PA, making the backline irrelevant.
gjones
Dave Swift uses IEM and stands on a vibrating plinth type thing, which vibrates along with the notes he plays, to mimic the sensation of standing next to an 8x10 with the volume at max.
