HazBeen
I started with the Ibby neck. The headstock looks ugly as, so I decided to reshape. Nothing spectacular. I also routed of part of the facing (some sort of plastic) where the logo was. The plan was to add a maple cap to replace the bit I routed off and take the shine off the remaining plastic (as I will be doing the same with the pickguard) for a mat finish. That said, I think it looks quirky as is, so may just round off the plastic and leave the wenge/bubinga exposed. Sometime a bass designs itself.... Thoughts?
HazBeen
Btw, the plastic will much more evenly mat, this is just 1000 grit. I will take it to 2-3000.
HazBeen
Looking at it again, am doing a cap.... wenge probably, and I will als make a matching cover for the trussrod cavity.
spacecowboy
+1 for the cap!! Good luck with new builds looking forward to seeing what follows!!
HazBeen
Did some stuff on the “GEETARRR” Trussrod installed, rough cut the neck, slotted the fretboard. Made my first mistake by slotting 24 frets and needing only 22 .....thankfully not an issue.
Si600
Shouldn't a Gheetar build be on Gheetarchat?

Geek99
Take the neck off, set the body on fire, stab it with the weedy neck, then burn the neck sorted

SpondonBassed
I'm hoping the fret nearest the bridge doesn't cause the end of the fretboard to split.

It won’t, never an issue. When going close to the end on a build I cut the end slot to 0.6mm to ensure and file the tangs to ensure the fret does not apply much pressure. Glue holds it in place…. Hey presto! Done this multiple times successfully so no concerns there.
