Cosmo Valdemar
Another one I've been playing slightly wrong for years... 🤣
Lozz196
Proof yet again that what sounds really bassy and warm in the mix just isn’t.
Lord Sausage
Played this at Chester Lakes festival in 2019. I can honestly say it was probably the most I've enjoyed playing a tune ever. So much fun to play.
steve1879
This is in our set list, I thought I had the sound pretty close with just my envelope filter but got some tweaking to do now!
ezbass
I used to play this in a Bowie tribute (well, you just would), most enjoyable but I would never have guessed that was the original tone.
Judo Chop
Fretless with a pick and octave?
JapanAxe
I have played this live quite a few times (including in a Bowie tribute) and always went for the brightest tone. I’ve invariably done it fingerstyle though, never thought to use a plectrum.
Guest
8 minutes ago, Judo Chop said: Fretless with a pick and octave? No, I believe it’s a keyboard bass in the verses doubled, and it’s a fretted bass as you can hear the fret buzz when he picks harder in the “aaah” crescendos. Carmine is a much under-regarded bass player. His work on Let’s Dance was fantastic. His credit list has a lot more on it than I’d have thought as he’s not one of those “names” that immediately springs to mind. I’d like to have a black ESP (I think) PJ with gold hardware like he played on the serious moonlight tour
ezbass
He was with Joe Bonamassa for quite a while IIRC. Loved his work with Bowie. DB certainly had some great bass players in his time.
pineweasel
This has been a fixture in my band's set for a while and always goes down well. I use an OC-2 for the verses. It doesn't sound quite like the original but it's close enough. Fun song to play, and some nice chords for the guitarists too.
Happy Jack
I reckon I play this WAY better than he does. 😂
hiram.k.hackenbacker
Never heard of it 😂
Bart Funk Bass
Jerry Barnes who works with Nile Rodgers & Chic plays it without any effects and it sounds great live! Just a fingerstyle jazz bass.
