That said, few more gigs on the upright and I'll be back in the land of the hoary callous.

Apparently the Scott's bass lessons bloke wears rubber gloves to play too, can't imagine it myself but, hey ho...

Only on his fretting hand, and its because of his medical condition.  I also think they may not be rubber , could be wrong

Fair enough, it seemed odd on the face of it, but I'm sure he has his reasons.

An unpleasant medical condition that cut short his career as a pro player. He wears them on either hand, as required.

He wears gloves because he's got some neurological disorder that gives him tremors. Apparently the gloves help!

Weird that just wearing a light glove can help with a neuro based issue, but it obviously works for him, that's the main thing !

Did you watch the video?

In a post he says something like that when initialy touching contact to something with his left had he gets a shock type jolt... with a glove there is a constant 'touch' to the fingers that aleviates the repetative touch feeling of playing.

(didnt see the vid posted above...)

Yep I did, just saying it's surprising that a simple thing like that can make such a difference, but great that it does, he seems a very decent bloke too ! 👍

I've already bought something like this from Thomann in case I had a blister, and it doesn't work because it doesn't slip on the fretboard. Only Scott's gloves work well and allow slippage.

In case I get a blister I use one of these...
