The only possible defence for this is in 1968 or so some hippie bought this  used from a US pawn shop, dropped some acid and thought it would be a fun thing to do.

The advert does state that this bass is a one-off, so if we call put a few quid in, we could buy and have it destroyed before it has a chance to breed,
