moley6knipe Posted June 17, 2021 Posted June 17, 2021 I’m being THAT guy. I love this bass more than oxygen but the white scratchplate isn’t sexy enough. So a Tort guard from WD would be sexier, right?? Am I right? 2 Quote
Paulhauser Posted June 18, 2021 Posted June 18, 2021 White pearloid is the best of both worlds for me..... 2 Quote
Lozz196 Posted June 18, 2021 Posted June 18, 2021 With natural/maple I`d go for black first, tort second 1 Quote
FinnDave Posted June 18, 2021 Posted June 18, 2021 I've got a white Precision and a white Jazz - both have tort guards, wouldn't look right with anything else. Both have rosewood boards, though. Yours needs something dark to give it a bit of contrast, I reckon. Quote
Reggaebass Posted June 18, 2021 Posted June 18, 2021 I’m with Lozz, Natural and black works and natural and tort works Quote
moley6knipe Posted June 18, 2021 Author Posted June 18, 2021 Thanks folks!! White Pearl is a good shout too. Black’s what most folks change these to judging by results of web search. Hmm WD do a nice black abalone too. 1 Quote
bloke_zero Posted June 18, 2021 Posted June 18, 2021 (edited) What?! We're not talking about the elephant in the room? That is triple ply! You must take it off now for shame! Single ply white > the others (on a fender). Edited June 18, 2021 by bloke_zero Fender 1 Quote

Muppet Posted June 18, 2021 Posted June 18, 2021 I put black on both of mine - apologies for double 3 ply-ness... 5 Quote
moley6knipe Posted June 18, 2021 Author Posted June 18, 2021 Oh VERY nice. I’m leaning towards plain black now! 1 Quote

tegs07 Posted June 18, 2021 Posted June 18, 2021 (edited) Natural wood- black or if possible no pick guard for me. Edited June 18, 2021 by tegs07 1 Quote
TheGreek Posted June 18, 2021 Posted June 18, 2021 I love the quote from the father in "My big fat Greek wedding" when asked if it was OK to disagree with him. Paraphrased: "Of course not, as long as you don't mind being wrong". 2 Quote

Paraphrased: "Of course not, as long as you don't mind being wrong". Richie Blackmore had a T shirt made which read "Everyone is entitled to my opinion". (I have to admit that the black plate on that natural Dimension does look pretty lovely). 1 Quote
Reggaebass Posted June 18, 2021 Posted June 18, 2021 Just to add, it can also depend on the tort, I had one on a natural jazz and it didn’t look that good because it had too much red, I changed it for a darker red/brown tort and it looked great 1 Quote

Get the impression WD’s are more red than brown. Quote

shoulderpet Posted June 18, 2021 Posted June 18, 2021 Anything is an improvement over white, can't stand white pickguards, they really make a bass look cheap. Just recently swapped the white pearloid pickguard on my Ibanez Mezzo for a black pickguard and it looks so much better Quote
dub_junkie Posted June 19, 2021 Posted June 19, 2021 I liked the black at first but the parchment white one grew on me. 2 Quote
