Thanks for all the great info on the FI v3

Been looking at this pedal for a while and seeing the current offer and the update purchased this morning for cheaper than being sold secondhand on here.

Here's hoping for signed unit 😂

Can't wait to try out this amazing piece of kit !

Nice one. Yes, I feel used prices need to drop a bit.

Do get a Roland UM-One MK2 via the link I posted above too if you want to be able to put new patches on your pedal.

They certainly do when you can purchase a V3 for cheaper new 😂 Pain when you loose money on gear but we've all been there and anhyone with any sense will check out the new price direct to Panda as it can be misleading online with the prices not dropping yet.

Is there a link to some info on the Roland UM-One MK2? I certainly want to put new patches on. TBH I am such a tech retard and this is probably the worst pedal for me but I have to have that sound!! I am hoping to find good patches from others and use them. I also saw Nathan Navarro has a set of patches that you can purchase which looked great. I also read that there is alot on Talk bass but not sure how easy they are to access in terms of hearing them. Do you have to load onto your FI to hear them or can you check out online?

My Mac is not set up for music at all do I need any programs etc to connect the FI to use ope my computer ?

Thanks for your message going to be an expensive day I sense I have another 1.5 worst of equipment in a basket I am avoiding pressing checkout ha ha

You don’t need any further information on the UM-One really. I linked to it a few posts back but that is just where to buy it cheaply. Basically you need some kind of USB-to-MIDI interface to connect your FI to your Mac and the Roland one is very reliable. It comes with a CD with the driver but there might be a more up-to-date driver online. It’s easy to set up and doesn’t require any specialist knowledge. You don’t need any extra programs to run the Editor as it’s a small stand-alone program. A couple of users have had some difficulty when they had an older version of the editor already on their Mac but it seems to be quickly solvable. If this is your first install, it should be fine. Just follow the instructions in the manual.

All the old Talkbass patches are in the online database and free to download. Link is in the second post of this topic. The database has the ability to upload soundclips so you can check out sounds but it’s not very well populated as yet as it has only just launched.

You can audition patches without writing to the pedal. You need to download them to a folder on your computer then you can browse them in the editor and hear what they sound like.

All this information is in the manual and I encourage you to read it.

Here are clips of patches I’ve made:

Thanks for the thorough response I have just registered on the website and looking forward to it arriving :)

I will also get the Roland you mentioned as sounds like a necessity.

Great patches and the Square Dance Whammy 😎

Excellent. Do get the Roland via the link I posted as it’s way cheaper and will support my local store.

Thanks. An automated version of Square Dance Whammy is one of the factory presets (playing harder triggers the whammy effect).

For anyone needing one, the Roland UM-One MKII MIDI USB interface is on sale at my local shop for £19.99 which is about £10 cheaper than normal:

https://www.richtonemusic.co.uk/product/roland-um-one-mk2-usb-midi-interface/

Essential gear for using the FI editor and loading patches onto it.

What distinguishes this cable from others is its ability to also work with iOS devices (and Android, I think) which means you can use an iPad to control the MIDI functions (including the new Flexi controllers).

Had some time today to update my V1 to V3 which has been sitting on a shelf gathering dust. My goodness this has come along way in a very short period of time. It was good before but this is now excellent.

Believe me, it didn’t feel like a short time to us!😆

i know this is a 'synth' pedal, but what are it's distortion capabilities?

This is all explained in the manual under the “distortion”, “foldover distortion” and “overdrive” sections. Links  to the manual are in the second post, follow the links in the table of contents to the relevant sections.

I have good news for you. Zsolt Rammer, our expert for both PC and MAC programs has investigated the problem with the Catalina OS, and he found that our editor works fine under Catalina. There are just a few things you should take care of. Since I am not familiar with the MAC world, I rather cite his investigation result exactly:

I checked the editor on the latest version of Catalina (10.15.1) and everything works fine. The application is compatible with the latest macOS. But users can't run the app in the latest macOS, because the file attributes are changed in the zipped archive somehow. I think the error was caused by the wetransfer service. Because of this we are going to publish on the pandamidi web page the version that was not going through wetransfer. The new version will be available there by noon tomorrow CET.

Otherwise, Catalina users can change the file attributes manually. The solution is to use the "chmod -R 755 <filepath of FIEditor.app>" command in the console. For Catalina users, my installation advice is to change the downloaded FIEditor.app attributes to number 755 and follow the instructions in the FI user manual. Furthermore, if the editor doesn't start, delete the "FIEditor" directory under path "Users/Username/Library/Application Support". Until a new release is available, I suggest this workaround.
