I heard Jefferson Airplane White Rabbit on the radio yesterday. As a soul/jazz fan in my teens it was years before I got to hear this version, but knew and loved this early CTI recording by George Benson.

I had a real sinking feeling once I finally realised The Fall's Mr Pharmacist was a cover

Chelsea Morning; a Joni Mitchell song I first heard as performed by Fairport Convention (... and a very good job they did of it, too...).

We used to play this always announcing it as a Dylan song. Usually got a few bemused punters.

Red Red Wine, UB40. Jealous Guy, Roxy Music. I Will Always Love You, Whitney Houston. All very good versions of very good songs.

Nilsson - Without You

I didn't know that either, but then I get confused between Without You, Without Her, and Living Without You. The last is actually Randy Newman, but Nilsson covers it on "Nilsson singa Newman" I think Randy plays piano on it anyhow. Damn good it is, too.

Tell Laura I Love Her - Sha Na Na's version. Still like that one much better than the Ray Peterson original and Ricky Valance covers.

Alone - Heart

Although this wasn’t the original either, this was the version I was familiar with, pre-Heart, as I enjoyed the series at the time. I even suggested recording a version of it to my then band, well before Heart, because I thought it could be a hit. Of course we never got round to it….🙄

Rosalie - Thin Lizzy

originally written and performed by Bob Seger.

Phil announces it as such on Live & Dangerous.
