It looks a good arrangement though. Anyone else use bass (playing) stands?
chris_b
The whole band is using stands. It's a gimmick.
Ricky 4000
Bad back? Oh yes, definitely. I saw a video of him playing on one of them orthopaedic 'kneeling stools', years ago.
lowdown
Yes, the whole band are using stands. I'm not sure it is a gimmick though, otherwise the snare drum and hi-hats would be all over the floor.
ezbass
I'm assuming this is so they can run around and swap instruments in a dramatic way (I think I'm right in saying that they do play each others instruments). It would certainly be less clumsy than all that strap over the head thing.
Piers_Williamson
So Arcade Fire swap the drummer as well. Is this the latest thing in displaying musical ability (bah humbug!)
fretmeister
I’ve got a stand. I used it when I was recovering from surgery. Its ok, feels a bit weird for the bass to not move.
Dan Dare
Joe's back is fine. Not sure about his neck, though.
musicbassman
Can somebody explain how the bass (or guitar) is attached to the stand?
Waddo Soqable
I made a stand for a guitar, so you could walk up to it, with a bass still round your neck, play a bit, then walk away and continue with bass ( it was some jolly 'modern' combo I was involved with at the time) The guitar was held in a kind of G clamp, suitably padded with rubber to protect it, to a point. This was atop a mad (max?) looking stand I'd welded together..The guitar was an SG so had nice flat surfaces front and back to clamp on to.... Happy Jack
Look up Jamieson 'Junior' Brown, check out his geetar stand thang.
stewblack
I use one occasionally. It has a plate screws onto the mic stand and attaches to the back of the bass with a strap onto the strap buttons. It's great fun to play like that, you can kind of dance around the bass while you play, rather than dancing with it. Very useful for weighty basses too. OliverBlackman
I know it’s been said many times before, but his time is exceptional.
