TheGreek
I never know if gear advertised as a Fender is genuine. Seller says "original 50s). Truss rod access at the body end. Here's the serial No on the neck plate: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284350394026?hash=item42349aaeaa:g:Ub0AAOSwMNpg2XQX

Reggaebass
I think V is the vintage series, a few of my 62RI jazzes had them
EssentialTension
My 2008 Precision American Vintage Reissue had a V serial number. You need to see the neck heel for an actual date but it looks more 2000s and very little 'original 50s'.
vinorange
I think it's an American Vintage Reissue Original '57 but the finish is stripped (obviously). They're pretty rare. I have one in Trans White. I think he means to describe it as an American Original 50's series reissue bass.
Bigwan
Yes, Original was a strange choice of name for this series. The Original series 50s P bass is exceptionally good...
ToneFree
I concur on the Fender AVRI ‘57. Mine is very light and the pick ups sound wonderful to my ear, different to other precisions - more “woody”. I can understand why the neck was stripped - the original gloss finish felt sticky but did become better with playing. The truss rod route is a no brainier, although with the same set of flats on for 12 years I’ve never had to tweak mine. If you like a natural finish this could be a real pleasure to play. prowla
Is it an "Original" series one, as opposed to originally made in the 50s?

Was the AVRI '57 ever made in gold? (as in he's no reason to lie about the finish he stripped off) I tried one once when I was starting out on bass, trans white like @vinorange's .... it's still on the GAS list 20 years later

vinorange
Heres mine albeit sporting an SDSPB3 pickup instead of the original hand wound, raised pole piece jobby (I dig in and found myself grounding the A string on the pole pieces). They're a limited run and very nice...... Edited June 30, 2021 by vinorange
vinorange
Interestingly with that one having been a solid colour they have used a 4 piece body whereas mine, being a trans white, is one piece. Now it is sanded back, the 4 piece spoils its looks a bit for me.... Edited June 30, 2021 by vinorange
martthebass
I think, having discovered it had a 4pc body, I would have put some paint back on it....
