Jolene on reception at the studio did have a bit of a weight problem, but James never called her a fat rascal. And as for the curd tarts, - well, they were just there for a 'work experience week'. Apparently. Quote
SteveXFR Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Some say that Jamerson once punched a horse to the ground and that he doesn't believe in ducks. All we know is he's called Jamerson 1 Quote
Judo Chop Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 I heard he changed his strings quite often, he just never washed his finger 1 2 Quote
Doctor J Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Unlike Leo Fender, Jamerson would actually get it right first time. 1 Quote
SteveXFR Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Unlike all other bassists who are failed guitarists, Jamerson was actually a failed accordion player. FACT Quote
nekomatic Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 It’s well known that all Jamerson’s bass parts were actually played by Carole King. But what’s less well known is that all Mark King’s bass parts were actually played by Danny Kaye. 7 Quote

He was known to be fond of God's own county. Apparently, his party trick was to play with a ferret down his trousers. You can see evidence of it on the live clip of him playing What's Going On with Marvin Gaye. Note the way he keeps shifting from side to side in his seat as the little fella burrows about in his trollies. Edited June 30, 2021 by Dan Dare 1 2 Quote

I wondered if I'd flush a true JJ fanatic but suspected the funny bone might be tickled instead. The Fender Bass Book does not cover accessories included with a new bass, and the adverts reproduced only mention choices of gig bag. www.guitarhq.com/fender2.html mentions straps being included with Strats from 1954 though. The famous pic at the back of the SITSOM book appears to show JJ wearing the strap attached the wrong way (narrow end at upper horn, with length adjuster over left shoulder). A later session pic shows a wider strap, or the thicker end on the upper horn: ...and then back go narrow in this pic towards the end of his life: I'm guessing from all this he used different straps, which may or may not have been bought or included at the same time as his various Ps...which is not much help, sorry! SteveXFR Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 @Kevsy71 So the only conclusive points there are Jamerson used a strap and played a Fender bass? Quote
