Rich
I'm quite taken with some of the examples of 'steampunk' instruments I've seen online. I'm half tempted to have a go at a mild steampunking of a bass, as it would fit quite well with the quasi-Victorian/Edwardian stage image I'm currently putting together for one of my bands. Have any of you lovely people ever done anything in a similar vein? I don't envisage doing anything quite as complex as this Jazz, but I am quite taken with the milder look that's been done to this Tele.
Cat Burrito
I like the theory but I guess it would have to be on as light a bass as possible as even with thin metalwork, that's going to get heavier.

Jazz a bit OTT for me.
PaulThePlug
Anyone heard of ''Steam Powered Giraffe"? Eldest (16) is in to this kind of thing... Top Hat and Goggles, Tunic or Tails type Jackets, weird makup... Great to be out and about (Teasco's!) with em getting odd looks! (them not me, well i think its at them!) zbd1960
I sometimes go to Steampunk events suitably attired: frock coat, cravat, waistcoat, top hat... There are Steampunk bands around
Aidan63
Steampunk festival held here in Llanfyllin for a couple of years before the pandemic great to see characterfully dressed peeps on the street 👍 'a bit like Hawkwind' was how somebody I knew who went described some of the bands
T-Bay
Any Valves or even better valve Nixie tubes would be cool, in fact I think you can get LED fake Nixies now that probably run off low voltage.

Doctor J
Peter Baltes had a steampunk Streamer made for him? A Steamer? Streampunk?
redbandit599
I saw The Men That Will Not Be Blamed for Nothing at Donington one year, who had a steampunk theme to their stuff - really good fun, think the singer was also a stand up comic, so it was a step up from your usual 'band banter.' Mykesbass
That Tele looks great. On a much milder vibe, I loved the Peterbilt bass made from a dynamite box.
SteveXFR
Back before the world ended there used to be regular steam punk events in town. It got to the point where you'd see them so often it just became a normal sight. I guess there must be quite a steam punk scene in town because they'd be wandering around town when there weren't events on. I guess it made a nice change from the hipsters in their vintage flying jackets and the estate agents in pink shirts with massive watches and orange skin. I've always wondered, is it healthier to steam your punk? Does it keep in the goodness?

Cat Burrito
I had one of these for a few years if you don't fancy doing the mods yourself.
MacDaddy
Watch this space! When it's safe (legal) to do so, I'm collecting Shuker no.3, which has a bit of a steam punk vibe...

Downunderwonder
There was a SP'd Squier J sold on TradeMe not so long ago. It was a little rough around the edges but it had wires and lights to go with the tin plate. It had a fair bit of body hogged out to save weight. Oopsdabassist
Ive got an old Squier PJ I steampunked up a bit ages ago, its got a more battered brass looking bridge and string tree on it now too
Waddo Soqable
There's some interesting cool stuff out there, the ready made Trussart and similar look nice if expensive, does anyone remember the TAR guitar and bass ? Kind of all aluminum things as I recall... As a bit of a welder I have been tempted to make a steel bodied "thing" of some kind, problem is having the time/ can't be arsed quotient ! MacDaddy
Bite guitars have a Steampunk graphic option. This is just a quick mock up from their configurator:

Kazan
I submit my '65 Meazzi Jupiter. Was pretty steampunk before that was even a concept - plus everything serves an actual function (and there are even gears, though they are internal).
