thebigyin Posted July 9, 2021 Posted July 9, 2021 Unfortunately i can't upload any photos but recently purchased a Vintage (Brand) Precision Bass it's obviously second hand but it's an old one the chap i bought it off had owned it at least 15 years....it's not a reissue or V4, i presume it's one of the original one's....looks nicely made and plays well, well worn and scratchplate is nicely tarnished....anyone had one and are they decent basses, only paid £50 so presume it's a steal any info on these will be very much appreciated. Lozz196 Posted July 9, 2021 Posted July 9, 2021 I had one of their Tony Butler Sig Precisions and it was a very good bass indeed. Well put together, played and sounded great. Out of all of the more budget range basses I’d tried in order to find a backup to my US Fender Precision it was the nearest in both neck size and sound. I got mine cheap (though spent a fair bit on it afterwards) but £50 is an absolute steal. Vintage imo make very under-rated instruments. 1 Quote
neepheid Posted July 9, 2021 Posted July 9, 2021 I'd snap one up if I saw it for £50, that's for damn sure! 1 Quote

Newfoundfreedom Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 Vintage have always punched well above their weight. Until Harley Benton came along, there was absolutely nothing that could touch them at the budget end of the market. Great instruments at a ridiculously good price. I'd almost feel guilty picking one up for£50. 😂 1 Quote
stewblack Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 I have one of the reissue V4 precisions and it's a very nice bass. 2 Quote

police squad Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 I have 3 Vintage 6 string guitars. They are all extremely good. I will eventually pick up a P bass copy, should one appear locally 1 Quote

Crawford13 Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 Again I'm afraid I have no info on that specific model but I have a 5 string I have had for 20 years and it's an incredible instrument. 2 Quote

It was my first bass, the neck is super slim, and it has very narrow string spacing. Over the years I have replaced the tuning pegs, and put some EMGs in it and it's still a great bass to play. 1 Quote
gobasserk Posted December 18, 2021 Posted December 18, 2021 Does anybody know if the scratchplates of the V4 are Fender std. sizes? Quote

Newfoundfreedom Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 Vintage were probably the best made value for money instruments around until Harley Benton came along. I used to have a Les Paul style Vintage guitar and it was ridiculously good. Quote
