drlargepants Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 I have a nitro finished les Paul which a child drew on with what I can only assume is a sharpy pen. It’s not scratched the surface of the finish but I’d like to try and remove it as it’s an AAA top 🤣 Any ideas what might get it off without removing the finish please ? Quote
Nibody Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 Yeh what he said before I could post. Sounds daft but try a little bit of WD-40 on a cloth Quote

drlargepants Posted July 11, 2021 Author Posted July 11, 2021 I’ve tried lighter fluid to no effect 😞 Quote
T-Bay Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 Sharpie pens are a nightmare. Methylated spirits shift it, as does acetone as mentioned above. Meths is gentler but takes longer to work, I would try that first. Good luck! Quote

STOP !!! STOP !!! STOP !!! STOP !!! Are you crazy, Mick ? It's a nitro finish and acetone (or nail varnish remover) will remove it too ! Don't ever do this to a nitro finish !!! 3 1 Quote

Most children are light enough to lift off of a surface without assistance. If it is an exceptionally heavy child seek help from another adult. 8 Quote
