tobesvw Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 Hi all, as per the thread at http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=44254 I have a Music Man Sabre in black, excellent condition with a soft case. I'm not 100% sure of the value as per the previous thread, but think about £1300 or so would be about right. I believe that this is influenced by the year it was made but I don't know how to take it apart to find out, so if anyone was seriously interested then I'd be happy to try and get this done to confirm the date of manufacture. I'm selling this on behalf of a neighbour that sadly died at Christmas hence my limited knowledge of the bass and value etc. I'm based just outside Milton Keynes and can be reached on 07977 530085 if anyone has any other questions. Thanks for looking Toby
kevbass Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 Looks to be in fantastic condition for a bass of that age!
alanbass1 Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 (edited) You should get close to dating it by the serial number. Try this site: http://www.musicmanbass.org/ You should bear in mind that, despite being the more expensive bass when sold new, Sabres typically go for 25% less than their Stingray equivalent. What would be handy to know is the weight as some of these were heavy to the extreme - I had one that weighed over 13lbs! If it's a lightweight one it should do a lot better. Best of luck. I thought they'd be more desirable. You don't see them very often, whereas Stingrays are ten a penny.
tobesvw Posted March 30, 2009 Author Posted March 30, 2009 Thanks, I'll weigh it later and see what it comes out at. Interesting that it could have a real bearing on price
Macko1968 Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 I think the price is determined by demand more than supply in this case. Sabres were never as popular as 'rays so there are fewer people looking to buy one. If you can find someone looking for a Sabre I'm sure they will pay the asking price. If not though, a Stingray buyer would look to pay less than the asking price of a 'ray simply because they would prefer a 'ray. 'tis a superb example when all said & done & I wish you luck with the sale.
courtneyusa Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 I would be interested if you are willing to ship to the US.

Kees_SoS Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 I've now been the proud owner of this bass for over fifteen months. Does anyone else on here own a pre-EB fretless Sabre? If so, I'd be interested in swapping photos and hearing what settings, strings, etc. you use. Cheers, Kees
Kees_SoS Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Oops! I should have started a new topic in the relevant section instead of simply replying to this old one. Just to clarify, this bass is ABSOLUTELY NOT FOR SALE.
Kees_SoS Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 The new topic can be found here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/185038-fretless-pre-eb-music-man-sabres/
