I had a maple jazz bass neck from Northwest guitars, the one I had was fine.... seemed well made and well finished.

They're brilliant, phone them up and explain what you need and why and you'll get good advice. I first found them via ebay but now deal directly with them. They were doing a deal to get 5 or 10% off your second order or something a few months back. Great for buying bits and bobs for repairs and putting Bitsas together. Have never let me down, always top service.

iirc there was a Bitsa P for sale here recently which had a NW neck. Was it the Shoreline Gold one?

Yes Guitar Northwest are great. I had a Precision neck from them for a parts project and it was excellent.
They were also very friendly and helpful over email.
