SOLD Ibanez BTB406QM 6 String £350 Leeds

Hi all, I'm selling my beautiful Ibanez BTB406QM 6 string.

This was made in Korea in 2003 and has the following features:

- Quilted maple top/basswood back
- 35" maple neck with rosewood fingerboard (dual truss rod)
- Large frets
- Mono rail II bridge
- Weighs in at 5 kg (11 lbs) and balances nicely for a 6 string!
- 18mm string spacing

At some point the pre-amp was upgraded to a Glockenklang 3 band, with active/passive push/pull and passive tone control. The tone is huge, and very versatile with a solid low B. It is very comfortable to play and has a slim, fast neck. I've recently installed a new Neutrik jack as the old one died, but I disabled the locking mechanism. I'll happily re-enable this if the buyer requests it.

The bass is in good condition for it's age, no noticeable fret wear. The hardware has some tarnishing (see pics) which is apparently quite common for Ibanez basses from this era, but it all works as it should. There are also some chips and scratches on the back from a previous owner. It has also been recently restrung with Dunlop Nickels.

Man oh man, I owned one of these (and the 5 string too) about 20 years ago - one of the nicest basses I've ever owned.

if only I had the cash - this would be mine in a flash!!!! Where can i sell my blood????

Lovely looking bass, I wish I could justify the 6th string but it just won't get used in my classic rock covers band. 😭

I'm always tempted by a 6 string bass! But I have (another) one on order with ACG and as much as this is a great deal, I'd just never play it. 

 

Rest assured, these are very good basses, especially at this price!

I've had a couple of nibbles of interest, but it's still here! It is indeed a great bass for the price, I'm only parting with it to fund a six string BTB premium!
