SumOne
Anyone here with experience of Philippe Dubreuille Basses? https://www.dubreuille-guitar.com/bass.html Seems mostly more of a Guitar builder but a few Basses, and custom stuff. I've got my eye on this Custom 5 https://thebassgallery.com/collections/bass/products/philippe-dubreuille-custom-5 but there is a crack in the headstock, and being a neck thru Bass it could be a massive hassle if it needed replacing. What do you reckon- a deal breaker?
Reggaebass
Really nice bass and I’m not familiar with them, the crack is probably stable , but the fact that it’s there would put me off 🙂
Reggaebass
@Hellzero has an excellent knowledge of custom basses 🙂
Happy Jack
If it's at The Gallery, just ask Martin what would be involved in making sure that crack really does remain stable. If anyone can tell you, it will be him.
chris_b
Show us a pic of the front. Does the crack go all the way through?
bloke_zero
Those cracks from the tuning peg can be successfully glued. Sold now so I guess moot either way! looked lovely - walnut over maple?

No worries, I'm sort of relieved, it does look good - but I really don't need a new Bass! Edited July 26, 2021 by SumOne
OliverBlackman
Played a reliced J type on Denmark Street and it was stunning - should have bought it. Then played the above bass and it was a dog.

(as well as trying before buying) Edited July 26, 2021 by SumOne

(as well as trying before buying) Its down to taste but the neck was bowed and the action high, it had a rough finish and the ergonomics didn’t work. The sound didn’t have any character either, complete opposite experience of the J relic which only has a photo here (the natural one) http://dubreuille-guitar.com/bass.html

To the point that they took the funds then had to refund me when they realised the instrument was gone. I don't care what stock they have. I won't deal with them again. I also had a negative experience in the shop itself.

As a result, I now own an EDC715 and EDA900. Edited July 26, 2021 by Lfalex v1.1 Auto correct! 1
