I'm just wondering how they stack up against other custom UK luthiers like Sei, Overwater, Shuker etc. I particularly like the look of the Ultra J - Essense Series. I wanted a bright 5 sting PJ as my main working tool in a funk band. The bass is very comfortable to play, fast and the tone is what I was looking for for the job. Andrew is a real gent. His Essence range is superb for the price and much better in my view than a Sire ( having owned one).
