cheddatom Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 NOT RELATED SPECIFIALLY TO JANEK I HATE the fact that some people think that when I express a negative opinion about someone else it's all about my own insecurities. It's not. Quote
wateroftyne Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 The thread-locking monster is watching. BGM-related discussion only. Quote
Marvin Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 BGM is a bit like bass players themselves. Understated but fulfills an essential duty. Wish it was a bit longer finished mine by 3pm yesterday only bought at midday! Quote

peted Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Got my copy after work yesterday. Read about a third of the mag last night and enjoying it. The missus asked if I'd like a subscription for my birthday if I'm going to be buying it regularly. Score! Quote

RhysP Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Picked up this months issue today. There's a picture of my mate (and awesomely talented drummer) Steve Roberts on page 16, which was a nice surprise. Quote
Cornfedapache Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 My subscription renewal's come through, but I can't decide if I want to take it... Not sure if the mag is as 'packed' as under the previous editor, although I like the direction the new ed has taken it... Quote

Jamesemt Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Bass Player seems to have become a bit pretentious in the last 6 months...or is that just me? Quote
ezbass Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 New issue dropped through the door yesterday. Interview with Doug Wimbush and review of his sig Spector. But don't be alarmed it isn't all expensive reviews there are some "real world" products in there too. Looks like they are staring to get the gear mix right. Quote
yorks5stringer Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Still the odd typo, "Marenello " on p12 and "Maranello" on p42.... But much more importantly Warwick seem to have got their man/woman for the Sales Assistant Post (after 3 years?) and are now advertising for an Amp Developer. Look forward to seeing how long this one will run........ Quote

I think there's an exclamation mark on every item. It's kind of sweet. Like a puppy. Edited August 20, 2009 by BottomEndian Quote
yorks5stringer Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Maybe the type-setters had an offer on exclamation marks this month, a type(!) of bog-off?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote

Rich Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 On the Warwick ad, that custom 5 string with the Kahler trem is the first W bass in years that has made me go "phwoarr" I have yet to read it in any detail, but the renaissance appears to be continuing. A good mix of reviews and some decent i/views. [quote name='sk8' post='573825' date='Aug 19 2009, 09:38 AM']i agree both have adverts but i've enjoyed reading Bass Player and not BGM. Alun Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 For all the comments about typos, I don't think anything beats Carvin spelling Sekou Bunch's name wrong in their own advert! Quote
Sean Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 The great thing for me about this month's BGM is Doug Wimbish on the front with his new signature Spector, Doug Wimbish in the middle with his new signature Spector, Doug Wimbish's new signature Sector reviewed in the middle and Doug Wimbish with his old signature Ibanez on the back ! Come on Rotosound, sort it out! Get some new shots of Doug! Quote
Geek99 Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 anyone else noted that the italia bass is both bolt-on and glued in? overall thought its getting much better. Quote
