Ashdown RM combinations

Hi all,

 

Just picked up a bargain RM500 evo2 combo 15.

 

Sounds great, but what would you pair it with? 

 

Another 15 cab? A 2x10 cab?

 

Would the 2x10 fit perfectly underneath etc?

I’d put the RM115 with it if it were me. Looking at the specs either 115 or 210 will fit perfectly fine under/over the combo. I’d choose the 115 because avoids any possible phase/comb filtering issues you *may* encounter with different sized speakers. I say “may” because it’s a bit of a crapshoot. Sometimes they work together, sometimes they don’t. I’ve have bad experiences with a 210 and 115 which I didn’t understand until encountering Bassworld (predecessor to Basschat) but now I try to avoid mixing different driver sizes.

 

But then, saying all that, I have an RM210 evo II cab I’m about to sell, so I’m conflicted with my advice 😅

I’d say as it sounds great pair it with the same again bc and it will sound doubly great.

Always the best advice that - if you think it sounds great but want more, add more of the same
