Sparrows78 Posted August 9, 2021 Posted August 9, 2021 Hi all! I’m having trouble reading the serial number on my Made in Japan Fender p-bass. According to fender it should read one letter followed by six digits, but in my case it looks like there are letters mixed with the digits. Does any of you know how to read this? I attach a pic. thanks! Quote
foxyFuze Posted August 9, 2021 Posted August 9, 2021 Best guess is that the first 'digit' is actually the letter 'I', which would make it an 89-90 model. Looks like some wear on the numbering and guessing it's 023390? Quote
Sparrows78 Posted August 9, 2021 Author Posted August 9, 2021 Yes, it must be something like that, I can’t find any info about letters in the S/N Quote
foxyFuze Posted August 9, 2021 Posted August 9, 2021 There a few sites which give a steer; these two are a good start https://anotherguitar.co.uk/fender/made-in-japan-fender-guitars-for-sale/ https://www.guitarinsite.nl/serienummers-fender_eng.php There are several MIJ experts on here who may be able to provide more insight too. alexpea Posted August 9, 2021 Posted August 9, 2021 I was looking at this one on Reverb the other day. It's listed as an H serial no from 1990 in the title but in the description says its an 'I". To me that looks like an 'I' like on yours... https://reverb.com/uk/item/41104352-fender-fujigen-1962-reissue-precision-bass-mij-h-serial-1990-three-tone-sunburst Alex Quote
