Hi,

I need your help. I have two sets of flatwound strings that came with the basses I had bought, but I have no idea what they are.

They both have red silk on both ends, however the string on the right is a darker red (burgundy? not sure). It's hard to capture the exact colour with my phone. Also, the string on the right is completely smooth, where as the one on the left is more coarse.

From the research I have done, the one on the left looks like a Rotosound or a Thomastik string. The one on the right - not sure. Maybe someone can help :)

Thanks!

Rotos have coloured ball ends. So that’s not it.

the left does look more like a Thomastic.

The right - no idea!

Thanks for your help! I didn't know about the coloured ends on the Rotos, I have seen pictures without them. Hmm...

The left looks like TI’s , you can see the windings, Adagio flats have red silks both ends

Thanks! Are these Adagio flats on this photo? If so, then they look awfully similar - darker red, smooth strings.

Yeah, they’ve been on for about 6 years 👍

Left looks like Thomastik to me. The right is smooth like Labella but I think they have blue ball ends. Perhaps someone that Labella make strings for.

Brilliant, thanks! I think that the ones on the right are definitely Adagios!

They are good strings, not very expensive but great value for money 👍
