That is incredibly sad. He only last week bought some books from me. I met him at Manchester railway station a few years ago, he bought something from me and we had coffee,

Only just seen this. As someone who has done minimal buying and selling here I didn't have a lot of direct dealings with Martin but was aware he'd been a moderator for a long time. My condolences to his family and friends both within our community and beyond. RIP MB1

Such sad news. Martin was one of the truly iconic Basschat members. I will remember him as a great bloke and always a pleasure to deal with. I was one of many who had either bought from or sold gear to Martin over the years. I'll miss seeing him around here.

Beautiful words, guys. I did not know Martin (I rarely buy or sell gear 😊) but he sounds like a diamond. It is always sad when we lose one of our own. Condolences to his family and to those amongst you who did know and love him.

I had no dealings at all with Martin, but Ped's eulogy and some of the comments on here have made me realise what I missed out on.  Thank you for that, guys, and my thoughts are with his family and friends, who could surely have expected to be with him for a great deal longer.

Very sad.

This is not the first BC who has gone to the great gig in the sky but I can't recall if we, as a forum, have ever sent flowers, etc to the funeral.

I'd be happy to contribute - I'm sure if we all contributed £1 we could send a sizeable wreath.

Anybody else?

A lovely idea, but worth checking with the family if they’re happy to receive a wreath or flowers (some don’t like floral tributes, especially wreaths).

Sad to hear this news. MB1 was indeed kind and forgiving, and at times baffling. It always felt like he had my back.  RIP, basschat legend.

Yup, I think it would be a great gesture.
