Some news sites are saying that Charlie has died.

Looks to be true, Clarky has just posted on the Notable Deaths thread. RIP Charlie

I’m sure I read somewhere that on a drumbeat where the hi-hat is hit 4 times with the snare hit on the 4th Charlie didn’t hit the hi-hat on the 4th so as to make the snare sound better and more precise. Not seen/heard many drummers do this.

Although I'm sure he had his moments, he always appeared to be content to let the others play up to the audience/cameras/press, whilst being the well attired, dapper gent at the back holding things together. In that alone he was always the coolest stone of all.

Rest easy Charlie, and thanks for sharing sixty years of your life with us.

Dan Reed posted that when the Network opened for the Stones in 1990, Charlie had his own sewing machine on tour and repaired his own suits on tour. That's pretty classy.

RIP Charle Watts

Always loved the story about an inebriated Mick Jagger phoning his room in the middle of the night and Charlie getting up, washed and suited up and going to give Jagger a smack in the gob ... RIP Charlie

I saw The Stones at the O2 and the whole evening was anchored by Charlie's drumming. He never missed a beat and underpinned the band in a simple, effective and fantastic way.
