adriansmith247
Hi My cheap bass bag has come to the end of it's life, so I am looking for another one. I really need something that will protect well enough but will also be easy to roll up and pack behind a drummer. I shift my own bass from car to venue and have never felt the need to have a 'proper' top quality heavy bass bag. It would be good to have side and front handles and zip from the side too. Here are my options so far https://www.bassbags.co.uk/product/hidersine-double-bass-case/ https://www.bassbags.co.uk/product/bass-bags-value-double-bass-case/ https://www.bassbags.co.uk/product/stentor-padded-double-bass-cover/ I am drawn towards the Stentor despite the 12mm padding and higher cost. It just looks more like the bag I already have. I realise that you get what you pay for, but I really only need a lightweight case for now. many thanks Adrian
TheG
Yeah think I agree with you. Looks like it’s got some good handles in good places as well. They all actually look fine to me but I’m drawn the the Stentor one as well.
adriansmith247
thanks TheG The handles and slim neck are certainly doing it for me at the moment. The neck shape on the Hindersine looks way to bulky to me
Maude
I've got the Hidersine one. Bought it eight years ago, it was about £50 back then. To be honest it's been great. Like you I move my own gear so I'm relatively careful but a gig environment will take its toll eventually. Some of the material covering the piping has worn thin in the places where it sits on the floor when on its side and the stitching on the front grab handle came loose, but apart from that it's still good, for at least another eight years. A decent level of padding and a very thick, strong area over the bridge. I really can't complain for the price.
adriansmith247
Thanks for your input Maude. I just searched reviews on the Stentor bag and found that I posted something here about buying a cheap bag way back in 2012. Totally forgot Just shows how bad my memory is and how little I need a decent bag I guess. My one could even last another few years with gaffer tape 🙂 Edited August 27, 2021 by adriansmith247
adriansmith247
I purchased the stentor bag and am very pleased with it. Slightly too big around the shoulders but great quality and lots of useful handles I have found that if I keep a Velcro cable tie on the bottom handle, I can roll the bag up for easy stashing behind the drummer 😀👍
