A change from the 'Which Scratchplate?' this Bank Holiday's dilema is 'Which Knob?'

Initialy it was a nice weighty Vanson Chrome full Dome as a modern take on the classic P style, Then after i decided on Cream Pickup covers, Got Strat n Jazz knobs in cream.

All Simple style...

Chrome matches the hardware and is familiar... Full meaty Dome to go with the Curve of the meaty high mass ish bridge...

Strat Hat is Fender Family and a classic, but maybe a little out of place on a bass...

I like the Big Volume and Small Tone of the Jazz, but on the P?..

I'd go for either the domed chrome ones or the ones with 'volume' and 'tone' on them.  Either go simple and elegant or self explanatory, leaving no doubt.  I'd rule the heptagonal plastic ones out, mainly because of the shape.

Not entirely useful I know, but that's the only opinion I've got, FWIW

Sandwich?.. Ham, Cheese or Jam?...

NO! i haven't got any Tuna! 😉

I voted Jam, and merely specified what kind of jam I would prefer, if possible. Nota bene the groove in the top – as the Assistant Director of Music used to tell us at school, always good when fiddling with a knob to know just how much you've turned it on.

I think the chrome works best on that bass, even if it is the 'safe choice'.

I like to try something different but sometimes classic just works.

@EJWWThanks... My First Budget Bitsa Build... Still needs neck n body sanding and oil finishing, don't come much simpler...

It's the simplicity of it that I love the most.

Where did you get the parts from?

Having had a quick play in Snapseed and brushing out the alternative options, I think, if the body is staying natural, chrome. However, if you’re staining the body a colour, then the Strat knobs would work very nicely.

It could all change once the body has been oiled as it will look yellower.

With a more amber body the cream might look best after all.

Just in case you had made your mind up 😁

I’d go chrome - look better but most importantly easier to use.

Strat style knobs only look right on Strats. Remember those Squier Precision’s that had them fitted as standard? I rest my case.😄

Thanks All

The No Nonsense Danish Oil i got from Screwfix is quite clear... just brings out the grain a bit, maybe making the wood look a little warmer, rather than give much in the way of tint.

Gonna make an effort and get on with it next week...
