lamp Posted August 30, 2021 Posted August 30, 2021 Hi BC! I’ve lurked for a long time, occasionally surfacing to buy or sell gear here - but thought I may as well participate!! I’ve been playing for 20 years, starting when I was 14. By day, I work in aviation, by night I annoy my fiancée with the twanging sound of unamplified rounds and flats (headphones a true necessity in London!) Over the years I’ve had a tonne of different basses, I think around 25 - Fender, Musicman, Warwick, Lakland, Ibanez, Gibson… but have somehow found myself right now with an all-Fender collection (save an Ibanez fretless) of 7 basses: - P-Bass: 1966, 1983, 2000 MIM - Jazz: 1969, 1972, ‘62 AVRI, Geddy Lee CIJ - Other: Ibanez GSR (defretted) Some 6 string guitars hanging around too, but the less said about that the better Amp-wise, unfortunately 90% AmpliTube through a Focuswrite and SansAmp. Does ok, but no comparison to the feel of a physical amp! I have an Ampeg Micro VR for small jams. I post the odd video or bit of gear on Instagram, purely for my own gratification: https://instagram.com/doingsomebass?utm_medium=copy_link That’s about it, cheers! Good to meet you all. 2 Quote
Dad3353 Posted August 30, 2021 Posted August 30, 2021 Good evening, @lamp, and ... Plenty to read and amuse you here, and lots to learn and share. 1 Quote
Richard R Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Welcome aboard Re: the feel of a proper amp. Keep an eye on the Events section and see if you can get to a bass bash. People bring amps as well as basses, so you can scratch that itch. And talk rubbish with lots of friendly folks. 1 Quote
